Letters to Luca by M.R. Joseph Blog Tour

Letters to Luca by M.R Joseph

Synopsis:

The course of true love never did run smooth~ Shakespeare

Leighton Parks~
I only wrote the love letters to my high school crush for fear if he truly knew my identity, I would be rejected. I wasn't the most confident girl in my school, and he was well... he was Luca Ferro. How could he ever be interested in a shy, book worm like me? That's why I wrote them. To tell him all the feelings I had for him. When I stopped writing the letters, I never imagined that 10 years later they’d come back to change my life, forever.

Luca Ferro~
I always believed in soul mates, finding that one true love. And I found her, my letter girl, but never knew who she was. She was a mystery.  Her letters, her words, meant more to me than anything. I searched for her, thought of her day and night, but never found her. I gave up on the idea of finding the missing piece to my puzzle—that is until she walked right into my life and I didn’t know what hit me.

A chance encounter brings Luca and Leighton together ten years later at their high school reunion. Will past secrets threaten to destroy their futures, or will love be written in the stars for them just as it was in Leighton’s letters?

Teaser #1
Leighton Parks:
"Luca, I..." His lips crash into mine before I have a chance to finish what I'm saying. He's gripping my face with both hands now and I'm powerless against his hot lips. I'm trying to keep my wits about me; I'm trying to still my hands, keeping them from grabbing his neck to deepen this kiss. My thoughts go around and around, I'm dizzy with desire, and I can't restrain myself from doing what I want to do any longer.

I stretch my arms around his back and press my lips into him even farther. He takes his hands from my face and pulls me tightly against him. He gently slides his tongue into my mouth and I receive it with every fiber of my being. This kiss is slow, it's deliberate, it's loving and I don't want it to end.

Teaser #2
Luca Ferro:
I push back her shoulders slightly, and she falls back on to the pillows of her bed. Her hair sprays out from beneath her and she holds her naked knees together. Her cream colored skin looks supple, and I want to kiss every inch of her. Her breasts and peach colored nipples are firm, but rest naturally outward. Her body is like a canvas. A beautiful display of art. Suddenly the way she looks changes the way I want things to go right now. I have this girl, in her bed, naked and wanton in front of me. She is mine for the taking, and I no longer feel the desire to just fuck her. I want to make love to her. Soft and slow, rough, and constant. I look at her and rest my hand over my heart. She looks at me confused. Here I am naked and waiting to be inside her, but she stills me. She stills my heart and I wonder how this magical creature came into my life.

TEASER:

“I think this is my stop,” he muttered, looking straight at me. “I’m not wanted in there. What do you think?” He arched his brows, and his tone held a note of challenge.

Huh? He wants to go in with me? I gasped silently, as I was still lost in his eyes. “I think the women in there will throw themselves at you.” I couldn’t believe I’d said those words. I couldn’t take it back. What was I doing, flirting with him?

He seemed to like what he heard. His arms reached out, his muscles flexing as he placed one on each side of me on the wall. With nowhere to go, I was trapped inside the bubble of his arms. He leaned down toward the left side of my face and brushed my hair with his cheek. “You smell…delicious,” he whispered.  His hot breath shot tingles to places I hadn’t expected them.

Out of nervousness and habit, my left index finger flew inside my mouth. Max gave a crooked, naughty grin and slowly took my hand out of my mouth. “Did you know that biting one’s finger is an indication one is sexually deprived?” His words came out slowly, playfully, but hot. “I can fix that for you, if you’d like.”

He did not just say that to me! I parted my lips for a good comeback, but I couldn’t find one. Feeling my chest rise and fall quickly, I tried to control the heated desire. Sure, he’d helped me once, but that didn’t mean we were friends, or flirting buddies, or that I would allow him to fix my sexual deprivation. Oh God…can guys tell if you haven’t done it in a very long time? This had to stop or else…oh dear…I wanted to take him with me into the restroom.

Needing to put a stop to the heat, I placed my hand on his chest…big mistake. Touching him made the heat worse, and tingles that were already intensifying burst through every inch of me. I had to push him away.

As if he knew what I meant to do, he pulled back, but his eyes did the talking instead. There was no need for words; I felt his hard stare on my body, as if he was undressing me with his gorgeous eyes. His gaze was powerful, as if his eyes were hands; I felt them all over me, completely unraveling me.

Just when I thought I was going to faint, his eyes shifted to mine again. “It was really nice to meet you, Jenna. I’m sure we’ll see each other again, real soon. I better let you go.  Your someone must be waiting for you. By the way….” There was a pause as he charmed me with his eyes again. “You…took my breath away. If I were your someone, I wouldn’t let you out of my sight for even a second, because someone like me will surely try to whisk you away.” He winked and left.

“That’s a beautiful sound,” Alexander said as Olivia straightened up, finally having caught her breath.

“What is? A girl out of breath from trying to break the four minute mile?” She smiled as she took a sip from her water bottle.

“No. The sound of your laughter,” he said softly. “I think it’s quickly climbing on my list of favorite sounds.” Olivia blushed at his words, quickly dropping her gaze from his. He took a step forward, leaning down to her ear. “But I’m sure I’d enjoy the sound of you out of breath as well, just as long as it were my doing.”

Olivia gasped, blushing again as she turned her eyes away from him. Something about Alexander and his words made her blush like a teenager. She was normally so confident and sure of herself, but around Alexander, her stomach seemed to be all knotted up, never knowing what words were about to fall out of his sensual mouth. She found herself thinking about all the ways she wanted Alexander to make her completely breathless. She felt the possibilities were endless as her eyes roamed his body to his perfect legs.

“See something you like, Miss Adler?” he asked with a mischievous grin on his face.

Shit, Olivia thought. He totally caught me checking him out!

Alexander smirked, proud of himself for catching Olivia off-guard. For someone who seemed so confident, he could tell it was all a front to keep people away.

Avoiding his eyes and his last statement, Olivia turned, gazing at the lake. “This is one of my favorite spots in the city,” she said, taking in the Swan Boats as they floated through the park that morning. She had no idea why she felt the need to share that piece of information with him. She was desperately trying to ignore the desire that had begun to grow within her own body, particularly after his previous comments. “I couldn’t decide whether to run the Charles today or come to the Commons.”

“Well, I’m glad you went with the latter.”

Olivia turned to look at him and was met with a full beaming smile. There it was again. That electricity between them. After a brief moment of silence, Olivia felt that she needed to say something. “Thank you for the flowers,” she said, crossing her arms in front of her body. “I thought about calling you last night, but it was one in the morning and I didn’t want to disturb you,” she explained nervously as she stood not even a foot away from Alexander, staring into his piercing green eyes. His proximity was overwhelming.

“I told you to call me anytime and I meant it,” he replied softly, taking a step closer to her, their bodies almost touching. Olivia could smell him. He smelled of sweat and body wash, and a unique scent that she assumed was just him. A slight breeze ruffled through the trees causing a few wayward curls to fall in front of her face. Alexander gently tucked a curl behind her ear and she immediately became self-conscious, not wanting him to be turned off by her flushed complexion or her sweaty body.

Olivia had no idea why Alexander affected her as he did. She never found herself completely speechless in front of the opposite sex before in her life. But something about Alexander made all notions quickly disappear, prohibiting her from forming any rational thought. Most of her life, she had shied away from any sort of real relationship, fearful that she would be left heartbroken and alone, but there was something about the man in front of her that made her want to get to know him better. And there was part of her that felt as if she already did.

K.C. Finn Author Feature

The Atomic Circus and Counterclockwise are the first two parts in the Caecilius Rex detective novella series. It is a four part series set in a post-apocalyptic society in which the outside atmosphere is consumed by a deadly, toxic smog, a perfect breeding ground for crime and conspiracy.

The Atomic Circus:
"A story is never a good story unless it starts with a murder. The more unusual the murder, the better the story, generally speaking. Meet Caecilius (KAI-KILL-EE-USS) Rex, a young detective in the not-too-distant future, a smog-filled post apocalyptic world riddled with crime and conspiracy. When a new case quite literally falls at Rex's feet, he teams up with his neighbour and associate Kendra Nai, an ex-army sergeant recently dismissed, to investigate. Little do they know that the events of The Atomic Circus will be the first step to solving the case of a lifetime."

Reviews:
"I found this book gripping and really enjoyable; I couldn't put it
down and it had a really nice twist at the end. I will certainly buythe next one."
"Awesome book, couldn't put it down! Really good concept and
brilliantly written. Love all of the characters. Can't wait for thenext book. :)""Am looking forward to reading the next three books in this series.
The main characters are easily imagined and the book is quite easy to
read. Hurry up and give us the next case to solve."

Excerpt:
“Death?” Kendra says under her breath. “Oh sure, I feel like taking a little drop of DEATH today, don’t you?”
She and Cae are at the back of a very large crowd, waiting to reach the traders at the front.
“I would suggest,” answers Cae as he is shoved further forward by the increasingly large mass behind him. “That DEATH is a substance one would give to other people.”
“What do you do, put a spoonful in their coffee?” She replies.
“That works,” says a suited man behind her. “But it’s getting them to stay dead afterwards that’s the trick.”
Cae is heavily disturbed by the pleasant and calm tone of the man, but he doesn’t have time to judge. “This stuff wears off pretty fast, then?” He asks.
“An hour for every five grams,” answers the man, “it takes about sixty grams to make sure they’re actually dead.”
“Thanks for the tip,” says Cae.
“Any time,” the cheerful murderer replies with a smile.

Counterclockwise:
"Following the events of The Atomic Circus, Detective Caecilius Rex
returns with a whole new mystery to solve. A series of stranglings
spark a new intrigue for the young detective that is fraught with
danger, along with an unlikely alliance and a startling discovery that
will turn Rex’s world upside down. Continue the mysterious journey
with the second volume in the Caecilius Rex saga."

Excerpt:
“What?” Asks Cae, his spoon slipping out of his grasp. It lands in his bowl with a clang.
Kendra holds up one piece of paper. “This inventory’s not just about destroyed items. Some things are missing.”
“Some things like what?” Cae questions, forgetting about his right hand as he uses it to take the paper.
“Third block down,” Kendra guides.
He finds the place, blue eyes widening. “Two blood samples unaccounted for,” he says as he reads the longwinded paragraph. “No evidence to suggest they were smashed in the attack.” Cae pauses to look up at Kendra. “Wonder whose they were?” He muses.
“Read on,” she says in a serious tone.
And after a moment, Cae echoes her “Oh no” with one of his own.
“They’re our blood samples,” Kendra says. “Just yours and mine are missing. That kid must’ve taken them.”
“Well I won’t get another word out of him,” Cae sighs. “He just keeps saying he can’t betray his family’s secrets.” Cae puts down the paper and rubs his face with the un-gloved hand, ruffling his black hair. “You know what this means, don’t you?” He questions.
Kendra raises a dark brow.
“Somebody’s trying to kill us again,” Cae completes.

Bare Assets by M.L. Stephens Review

Bare Assets by M.L. Stephens

Description:
With nothing but shattered dreams and a busted heart to fuel the way, Angela Fletcher drove out of Arkansas and never looked back.

Six years later, the new and improved version of the girl she used to be steered clear of romance, love and late night promises. The only pillow talk Angela engaged in these days, was making sure the person on the other pillow knew to lose her number as soon as he left the bed. She only had room for one love in her life and that was Bare Assets, the gentleman's club she poured her heart and soul into.

Dean Murray was the devil in disguise and had left behind enough broken hearted women to populate a small country. Angela would know. She was an expert markswoman who was skillfully self-trained at shooting down the good, the bad and the ugly of all masculine targets. After all, as the owner of the most successful strip club in Dallas, Texas, it was her business to know men.

Just as she begins to fall for Dean's silky words and passionate ways, her past and present unexpectedly collide and a meticulously planned future turns into unpredictable chaos. Is the smooth talking, denim wearing devil responsible for the chaos? Or have the secrets she left buried in Arkansas, coming back to haunt her?

My Thoughts:
I received an ARC copy of this for an honest review.

This book will appeal to anyone looking for a unique storyline with tons of romance & mystery.

I give this book 4 out 5 stars.

While I enjoyed the book a lot I found there was a little too much mystery and the beginning was a tad too slow.

After the first couple of chapters I became invested in the story. I really enjoyed the Author's writing style. There were barely any editing errors and the characters personalities were great! Dean is said to be a player, but really he is not like everyone assumes. He is caring, compassionate, and protective. Angela is a strong young woman. She works hard and is consumed by her business. Together they instantly become sexually attracted to one another. The sexy scenes are HOTT! The way the worship each others bodies is sexy as hell.

There was a slight struggle in Dean and Angela's relationship though. At the same time they meet, Angela's ex shows up at her house and refuses to leave. He is very protective and kind of charming. The way M.L. makes him and Dean interact is great. I found myself smiling thinking.... WTH is Angela thinking having both these men in her house at the same time!

This book had mystery, romance, suspense, heartbreak, and sexy time!
Definitely worth the read.
