Wolf Fever by Milly Taiden (Friday Feature)

Blurb
When Raine Bowe volunteers for a sleep study for the extra cash, she didn't expect to wake in a lab or to be victimized by a mad scientist. She escapes with one objective--to find someone strong enough to wage war with the evil growing inside her.
Ryder Storm is a man with a reputation--the bad boy of his own universe. He doesn't take prisoners, won't give into a sweet smile, and doesn't cut his pack an inch of slack. He knows the desperate woman in his bar is his the moment he lays eyes on her. He'll give her anything she wants, except the one thing she's begging for. Death.
Raine enlists Ryder’s help to unravel the mystery surrounding the hours she lost in the lab and to help tame the beast inside her. In their search for answers, the road will lead them to a twisted experiment involving shifters, humans, and the creation of the ultimate Alpha. He's ready for the adventure and she's ready for her answers. Neither are ready for the lust that calls down from the mating moon. But a wolf knows its mate, and an alpha will not stop until he or she gets what they want.

Excerpt
Run!

The loud hammering of Raine’s heart drowned out the single word bouncing around her mind—and the dogs barking at her back. Their angry growls faded the faster she ran. A little further. Just a little more, and she’d be home free.

Trees swooshed past her with every step she took away from the small isolated facility. She ignored the hospital gown swinging against her legs and the blood dripping down her arms from the torn IVs. Barefoot, the rocks bit into the soles of her feet. None of that mattered. She had to survive. Her life depended on getting as far away from that place as possible.

Inhaling the comforting scent of mud, trees, and the wild, she barely heard the barking over the breeze rustling through the willows with each step she put between them. At any other time, she’d have dissected her reaction to the forest. Not now. And she didn’t stop. No way was she getting captured again without a fight.

Air beat in and out of her lungs in tandem with the pounding of her feet on the rocky ground. Moonlight filtered through the branches overhead, highlighting her path. Her hair caught on the tree limbs, snatching at the loose strands. Some of the hanging vines prodded her arms and stabbed her sides. Her breath hitched, and she missed a step, lurching forward. Something inside her tightened. Her arms swayed and her core muscles flexed. Before she face planted, everything balanced out. She blinked. More scared now than she’d ever been in her life. Something controlled her body and it had reflexes far superior to a normal human.

Moisture gathered in her eyes, blurring her vision. She blinked it away. Panic would only get her caught.

Raine glanced at the moon. It had shifted twice—now in front of her, rather than behind. She stilled. The trees rustled with the wind. An owl hooted. But she still didn’t hear the annoying bay of the dogs.

Ragged breaths beat hard in her ears. A horn’s blare sounded in the distance. Fear and excitement gave her a burst of energy. Cars meant help. She urged her body faster.

Street lights peeked through the trees. Air panted out of her chest. A second car honked, speeding past another. She was almost there. So close. Thank god. She was going to make it.

Slowing down at the edge of a hill, she darted glances around the now quiet street. No people milled about or walked around. Nothing. A big store, one she recognized from the one time she’d gotten lost in the shadier side of town, sat a block to her right. The sudden quiet made sense now. Nothing good happened this far south of Tempting Eats. It was known as the dead side. The thought alone gave her chills. Women went missing…all the time. That had been enough to keep her uptown in suburbia-peace-nation.

She glanced around, searching for anyone who might be waiting for her or even any of the dangerous men her neighbors said roamed the streets, but there was nothing, not a single being. Her feet hit the pavement in a rush. Once across the street, she hid inside a dark alley. The stench of rotting food and piss coated the air with a thick blanket of disease and chaos. Her throat convulsed, and the acidic taste of bile hit the back of her tongue.

Retreating, she took several steps toward the end of the street to a small motel. Its yellow, neon Vacancy sign blinked on and off with a buzz. A man’s yell pushed her to slink into the dark. The sound came from the shadows in front of the motel.

My Review
If you love vampires & werewolves with a sexy side.... This book is for you! The storyline is addictive. From the moment I started I couldn't put it down.

The characters were perfect. Eva is strong willed. Max is a protector, and Jericho is just dangerously sexy! There is a bit of a love triangle... and for the record- I am team Jericho!

I was really surprised by how well the Author captured the readers. I found myself caught up in the charming parts. I even was smiling at the book... I know- Silly!

I highly recommend this one to everyone!
There was suspense and romance.... What more could you ask for?
I can't wait to get my hands on book 2!!

Insatiable - A Mermaid's Curse by Daniele Lanzarotta Review

Amazingly Beautiful Love Story
...no less than 5 stars from me!

This book blew me away and left me speechless. I am still in disbelief to what a creative unique, yet sexy and intoxicating story this was!

Arianna was a mermaid who spent the better part of her life wishing she had legs and a certain someone named Blake. Her father was not happy about her pining over a human, so he decided it was time to marry her off to a man named Bram. After the wedding she decided to leave and find her happiness. There she met a mysterious stranger that made all of her wishes come true. Little did she know along with happiness, came hurt and heartbreak.

Obviously Blake and Arianna were the main characters... But the other characters had strong personalities too, which I loved! Blake's mom was sweet, Molly was adorable, Owen was unpredictable, Brooke was jealous, and ugh Blake's dad- can you say jerk?!

I cannot praise this Author enough! It was mystery, romance, suspense, struggles, and family drama all wrapped into one fab book! From the beginning the love story grabs you and doesn't let go. The sex scenes are hot and the emotional scenes are intense.
The story had enough twists to make you interested and the ending definitely leaves you craving book 2!

I can't wait to see where the Author takes the story next!

Entwined with You by Sylvia Day Review

What can I say...
Gideon just never disappoints!

Wow!  Sylvia Day did it again... 5+ stars from me.

The love story continues right where book two left off. Gideon is in a predicament, forcing his and Eva's relationship to be kept a secret. They cannot stand to be apart from one another, so he decides to become her next door neighbor. After time passes and struggles are dealt with... they can finally reveal their big news.

The love in this book is breathtaking, the romance is sexy as hell, and the progress they make in their relationship is huge! I love how the Author keeps things fresh. The way she throws in characters and adds to the suspense is fabulous. I could not ask for a better book. I am infatuated with Gideon and have been since page one of book one. I could only hope book 4 will be released soon... Because I honestly cannot wait to see where Sylvia takes Gideon and Eva!~

The Haunting Season Blog Tour

Blurb:

Be careful what you let in…
Siler House has stood silent beneath Savannah’s moss-draped oaks for decades. Notoriously haunted, it has remained empty until college-bound Jess Perry and three of her peers gather to take part in a month-long study on the paranormal. Jess, who talks to ghosts, quickly bonds with her fellow test subjects. One is a girl possessed. Another just wants to forget. The third is a guy who really knows how to turn up the August heat, not to mention Jess’s heart rate…when he’s not resurrecting the dead.

The study soon turns into something far more sinister when they discover that Siler House and the dark forces within are determined to keep them forever. In order to escape, Jess and the others will have to open themselves up to the true horror of Siler House and channel the very evil that has welcomed them all.

Excerpt:
Something stirred under the bed again and she took a few safe steps away from the bedskirt.

“Jess!” a child’s voice whispered. Her heart in her throat, Jess bent down and carefully lifted the bedskirt, nearly tumbling backward at the sight. Gracie looked out from under the bed, then slid the Ouija board forward.

She wasn’t afraid of the girls, but that didn’t make her any less nervous. Jess still rationalized that good ghosts could be trapped in the same location as evil ones. If Grams appeared inside Siler House right now, Jess would still be jumpy. No, what scared her was that the girls had shown up under the bed.

“Geez, Gracie! You scared the crap out of me!”

Gracie’s bottom lip took on a pout. “We didn’t mean to scare you. But she scares us. We’re sorry Allison won’t help you. She doesn’t want to help us, either.”

Jess took in a steadying breath. “It’s okay. I’m fine now. Hey, we were just talking—”

“We said we’d help,” Gracie interrupted, still staring unblinkingly at Jess. She pushed the board forward another inch. “Don’t be mad we took it.”

Jess’s hands shook slightly as she took the Ouija board and planchette Gracie offered her. She’d explain about taking the board to Dr. Brandt later. Maybe he wouldn’t notice if it was gone for a few hours. “Thanks,” Jess managed to say.

Gracie smiled, then scooted backward, disappearing behind the bedskirt. From underneath the mattress came the sound of Gracie and Emma’s echoing laughter.

Question for the Author:

If you had to describe Shattered with one word, What would it be and why?

Disturbing

I think I would label it disturbing because there is, in my opinion, a level of realism to the story that is hard to read. I have read a number of news stories, both in the UK and elsewhere in the world, that make me think uncomfortably of the story I've written.
